I have been so blessed and grateful for the opportunity to be the lead instructor for a 200 hours yoga teacher training and to create Choose2be yoga school. It has been amazing to spend 8 weekends with these 12 beautiful beings, like Samantha, and also incredible to have 15 different instructors to come lead part of the training. It was alreadyIt has been a really rich and amazing journey in so many different ways. This Spring 2019 YTT was the second YTT that Choose2be had offered and had already improved so much from Spring 2018 YTT. Stay tune to see the headline and details from Spring 2020 YTT.
Part of the participants homework was to write an essay on the topic of their choice and they were aware that I would be posting it on my website. We also did an exercise in the first weekend to create a life affirmation and core desire feeling, I invited them to share it with us. I am so humbled and touched that I got to support these amazing beings on part of their journey and I am looking forward to witness how life unfolds for them.
Mantra: I am sacred geometry whose patterns and beauty help others to love and understand their inner selves.
The Third Eye Chakra, by Aria Kostamo
The Third eye chakra or Ajna chakra is the sixth chakra in the basic chakra system. This chakra is associated with creation, patterns, and magnetism. The element for this chakra is mind. It allows one to see through the grand illusion and access inner and cosmic truths. It’s where our reality is manifested into creation. “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy frequency and vibration” Nikola Tesl
Vibration: a wiggle in time
Wave: a wiggle in space and time that transports energy
Quantum: very small increments or parcels into which many forms of energy are subdivided.
In modern science we are understanding that everything in our reality is a big infinite field of vibrating energy. In quantum physics we can see that everything is made up of vibrating molecules, and those molecules are made up of atoms that are also vibrating. Those atoms are made up of even smaller bits called subatomic particles that have large amounts of space in between them. These subatomic particles are all vibrating and spinning around all the time. The universe is in a constant state of motion. Theoretically the vibration that everything carries emanates a field that is interconnected with all other fields across the entire universe. This vast field that, permeates the entire universe is known as electromagnetic energy. In simpler terms basically all things are interconnected and vibrating.
At the most basic level our bodies are made up of particles (energy) constantly coming in and out of our being to create the person you see before you. That energy organizes itself through chakras and meridians. Each chakra corresponds with a certain frequency. Thanks to quantum physics we know that everything in the universe is made up of energy vibrating at different frequencies (as stated above).
Even things that look solid are made up of vibrational energy fields at the quantum level. Each individual cell, a tree, a book, a crystal, and even subatomic particle all have a vibration. The vibration that each chakra emanates can be linked to a multitude of things that share a similar vibration such as colour, sound, smells, thoughts, and emotions.
In the picture above we can see the different wavelengths of the visible (to us) spectrum of light. Red has a longer wavelength resulting in a lower frequency where violet has a shorter wavelength resulting in a higher frequency.
Unit: 1 vibration per second=1 hertz (hz)
The electromagnetic spectrum is a continuous range of waves extending from radio waves to gamma waves. See picture above. Our eyes can only see a small portion of what is out there. There is so much out there in the vast and beautiful universe. Our sense just begin to skim the surface of all that’s out there in the vast ocean of reality.
In recent years we’ve even been able to record the wavelengths in our brain waves and the Hertz associated with those different brainwaves. Its theorized that even emotions and thoughts carry specific vibrations that can be recorded, organized, and understood.
The role of the Sixth Chakra is to compute the constant sea of vibrations through our senses then project them to create the reality we experience before us. For example through our eyes we sense light and the different vibratory states it can be in, then that data is put through our mind and projected into the things we see. The sounds waves we hear are computed for us to experience different noises. There are also frequencies that we can’t hear or see but yet our body can still sense them through other senses. Such as, a horror movie will use a super low frequency noise undetectable to the human ear that will evoke a sense of fear in the person due to their other senses being able to pick up that frequency. There is theorized to be 18 senses that our mind is constantly obtaining data from. These senses are sight, sound, smell, taste, touch and tactile pressure, heat and cold, pain, muscular coordination and balance, thirst, hunger, and sex drive . There is an enormous amount of data coming in at all times. If we were aware of every little bit of it, our consciousnesses would be way too overwhelmed by the amount of information coming in so most of this work is done unconsciously. This means we are unaware of it all we don’t have to think about all the data to see it just happens. Similar to how we don’t have to think about our heart pumping or our immune system working. Our unconscious does that for us so the only information coming into our consciousness is the stuff necessary to our survival and well being.
Clair: French name for clear.
Once the third eye or sixth chakra (sometimes also referred to as the sixth sense) is open and flowing one can experience heightened inner senses. Such as Clairvoyance: Clear seeing, or psychic sight is usually very subtle and allows us to see objects, symbols, and events that are not perceivable by our everyday senses. Usually seen in the third eye also sometimes called the mind’s eye. This is what allows us to see things in our dreams and imagination. We can imagine things that don’t exist yet in this world.
Clairaudience: Clear hearing. It allows us to hear sounds beyond our ordinary sense of hearing. Said to enable one to hear higher self, guardian angels and spirits. E.g someone’s driving to work and they hear a voice out of nowhere telling them to take the next exit, so they do. Only to later hear that there was a huge accident up the road which they barely missed.
Clairsentience: Clear feeling. Also known as a strong sense of empathy or sympathy. It allows one to experience another’s feelings and emotions. E.g. you can walk into a room of stressed people and you can feel the stress in the room right away. Or how one can feel when someone’s feeling sad or upset even before they say anything about it.
Claircognizant: Clear knowing, allows someone to just know things. Also known as intuition or inner knowing. Some examples; a woman could just know she is pregnant even before she even taken a test. Or how some people just get this inner knowing about whether someone’s telling the truth or not.
Inner balance and movement: This help provide the body knowledge of where it is in space.
Higher Compassion: The ability to understand where someone is on their spiritual, emotional, and mental journey. Able to treat others with a strong sense of unconditional love and compassion rather than feeling sorry or pitying them.
Physical attributes; said to reign over the middle of the forehead just above the brows. Most people actually, have a natural slight indentation in this spot. The third eye controls the various bio-rhythms of the body. It works in harmony with the hypothalamus which directs the body’s thirst, hunger, sexual desire and the biological clock that determines our aging process. The pituitary gland is an important gland governed by this chakra. This master gland is responsible for secreting various hormones that cause a direct effect on all other endocrine glands in the body. Some important glands that the pituitary gland helps out are the thyroid, adrenal glands and reproductive organs.
Physical ailments when out of balance
- Blurred vision
- Sinus issues
- Hormone imbalances
- Thyroid problems
When energy is week or low it can result in
- Lack of creativity
- weak intuition
- Difficulty concentrating
- Fearful of the unknown
- Dualistic viewpoint
- Disconnected from the universe
- Unable to see the bigger picture
- uninterested in spirituality
When energy is too strong (Meaning too much flow of energy into it without being grounded enough through the chakras below it. It cold potentially cause some of the attributes:
- inability to understand or integrate their inner senses. This can cause hallucinations, and delusions.
- Unable to distinguish boundaries of the real world and the dream (or astral) world.
- can develop beliefs that they are better then others. Feel as if they are superior in some way.
- Highly stubborn and unforgiving
- Over active mind in analyzing things in a judgmentally way.
- excessive daydreaming and other forms of escapism
When chakra is in balance one can experience
- Good intuition
- Active imagination
- Connected to inner senses
- able to see patterns in the universe
- Good insight and self-awareness
- Emotional balance
- recognize truth from illusion
- Lucid dreaming
- Balancing the chakra
- Open up to wisdom
- Seek out new ideas and perspectives.
Opening up to new beliefs and understandings can help one bring back a harmonious flow of energy within this chakra. Looking into your inner wisdom e.g being an observer of one’s thoughts and actively learning about oneself. Look into all the beliefs you’ve picked up during your life and figure out which ones bring harmony to your life and which ones no longer serve your highest good. Most of our current beliefs come from the people we grew up around so our parents, siblings, teachers etc. As well as the culture you were subjected to. Ask yourself which beliefs hold true to me within my heart and which ones do I actually not really enjoy or resonate with. They can even be a belief you once really resonated with but as you grow and change over time it no longer feels relevant within you anymore, and that’s perfectly okay. That’s how we grow! So maybe that belief that someone’s 4th grade teacher said to them doesn’t ring true to them at their core but, 4th grade them didn’t know that so they adopted the belief the teacher gave them and have integrated it into their being up until now. There’s so many ideas and “truths” we take with us for years and years that bring us stress and disharmony rather than making us feel at harmony and peace within. Look at your beliefs and find out where they originated from.
Color Therapy: The color associated with this chakra is Indigo. It also responds well to indigo (or purple), the whole spectrum of the rainbow, and sunlight. Eating a good array of colors in your diet and getting enough natural sunlight is a good idea. As well as foods with a purple color to them such as prunes, dates, blackberries, blueberries, figs, raisins, eggplant, purple cabbage, purple kale, purple carrots, and purple potatoes.
Sound: The sound ANG and 852 hz
You can also find binaural beats made specifically for this chakra.
