Inspirational Person: Kelsey N. fitness transform her life

Why do I want to feature inspirational people in my newsletter?

I want to feature people like Kelsey who have crossed my path and touched my life, inspiring me toward greatness. Too many of us fail to see greatness in ourselves. Somehow, it doesn’t seem to matter what we have achieved; we often need others to point out to us how we excel. People display “greatness” by their attitude, their lifestyle, their choices, their actions… I want to recognize the people in my life who lead by example.

Meet Kelsey

I met the beautiful Kelsey in a Bootcamp class I was teaching at VIU. She was so inspiring, pushing herself and transforming her life around. She cleaned her diet and dedicate herself to training. I enjoyed following her as she travelled the world to Australia, trusting life and leading by example.

What motivate you to exercise?
My motivation is 100% intrinsic. My journey is all about longevity, energy and happiness. I am a much happier, well-rounded person when I exercise. I also maintain a better diet and drink more water which allows me to have more energy, clearer more radiant skin and a balanced lifestyle.

What activity/workout do you prefer?
My favourite workouts in the gym are shoulders and glutes! They’re my two favourite areas to see improvement. If I’m not in the gym volleyball is my favourite pastime.

What is your biggest accomplishment?
Inspirational Person Kelsey Nijman - VIU Bootcamp - weight loss- weight training - NanaimoMy biggest accomplishment to date is being able to do a pistol squat after a bad ankle injury. I can also bench over 100 lbs which I am very proud of cause when I started I couldn’t bench the 45 lbs bar 10 times!

What is you superpower?
I have worked very hard to master consistency. I truly believe consistency is the secret to success and not everyone has the discipline to master it. Although it’s not a superpower it is the personal attribute I am most proud of.

What is your favorite dish/recipe?
My favourite quick go-to meal is a piece of whole wheat toast with a bed of spinach, 3 eggs and a bit of cheese on top.

What is your cheat treat?
My favourite cheat meal is always pizza and an ice cold Coca-Cola!

What are your goal and dreams?
I still can’t do a handstand so that’s next up on the goal list! I would like to increase my wide-grip pull ups to 10 and be able to do pistol squats without a weight in my hand!

Advice for a newbie?
Don’t do anything that isn’t sustainable long term! You shouldn’t commit to a certain diet or lifestyle that is so extreme you can only maintain it for a short period. Your diet and exercise should be balance that you can enjoy life and remain fit and healthy for years to come!Inspirational Person Kelsey Nijman - VIU Bootcamp - weight loss- weight training - Nanaimo
