I want to feature people like Laura who have crossed my path and touched my life, inspiring me toward greatness. Too many of us fail to see greatness in ourselves. Somehow, it doesn’t seem to matter what we have achieved; we often need others to point out to us how we excel. People display “greatness” by their attitude, their lifestyle, their choices, their actions… I want to recognize the people in my life who lead by example.
How did I meet Laura?
I’ve met Laura when I moved to Pacific Gardens Cohousing Community. Laura been living there for a few years and was moving out as we were moving in. Right when I met her I was touch by her nurturing and calming energy. Then I kept seeing her all over town biking everywhere. Laura is definitely walking the talk in so many ways. She is a beautiful soul and believer. She currently teach Yoga classes at Wellness studio and Om town Yoga.
What motivates you to exercise?
Knowing how good I feel in my body and mind when i do. it’s like glue for me; if i don’t move enough I get grumpy.
What activity/workout do you prefer?
Cycling on the road for long distances, mountain biking in nature, and various forms of yoga. I vary the time and intensity needed by how i’m feeling that day. A push, a challenge leads to me stronger, healthier and happier for it.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
Spending a lot of time alone, living simply, growing more myself and happier with less stuff and more peace; then later in life, naturally birthing my two boys at home.
What is your superpower?
Listening to others and tuning into needs, and riding my bike fast!
What is your favourite cheat treat?
mmmmm chocolate is a food group, so pastry or licorice.
What is your favourite dish/recipe?
Whole simple foods at home usually, yet Indian is my go to favorite.
What are your goals and dreams?
Living in a naturally built home by my family and friends on water, teaching yoga and meditation in my own earthen structure space, freedom to travel and teach more often.
Advice for a newbie?
- Live your life the way you want to live it.
- Create it for yourself.
- Go out and do what you want to do.
- Be who you already are.
- Ask, Believe, Receive.
