Why do I want to feature an inspirational person in my newsletter?

I want to feature people like Colin who have crossed my path and touched my life, inspiring me toward greatness. Too many of us fail to see greatness in ourselves. Somehow, it doesn’t seem to matter what we have achieved; we often need others to point out to us how we excel. People display “greatness” by their attitude, their lifestyle, their choices, their actions… I want to recognize the people in my life who lead by example.

How did I meet Colin?

Colin became my neighbour when he moved at Pacific Gardens Cohousing. I am so grateful that he did because I really enjoy knowing him. I’ve personally trained him and we got to know each other better. He gave me the best birthday present ever when he came to my birthday potluck and suggested that everyone around the circle say something they liked about me. That was really touching and sweet. He also organized his parents 40th anniversary and had a live band play at Cohousing and that was such a great party ! Colin is unique and keeps surprising me. Lately he did a 30 days vulnerability challenge and I was impressed by how much he opened bravely to everyone on social media. It has been a delight to have him in my life.

What motivates you to exercise?
I know I feel and look better when I exercise, so that definitely motivates me. I am also motivated to keep fit and strong because I know as I get older it will be more difficult to do the things I love and it much easier to maintain if I stay in good shape.

What activity/workout do you prefer?
I am a big fan of yoga and love nothing more than getting out in nature for a hike.

What is your biggest accomplishment?
This is a tough question- I would say my ability to connect with people by being vulnerable, honest and compassionate.

What is your superpower?
Vulnerability

What is your favourite cheat treat?
El Pastor Tacos from a local restaurant called Jalapenos!

What is your favourite dish/recipe?
If we are talking healthy food, I would go with a smoothie with lots of organic local fruit and greens. If we are talking unhealthy, I am going to take a taco, steak, or pizza!

What are your goals and dreams?
Well, I want to have a loving healthy family with 2 or 3 beautiful children and a place we can call home. My other focus is an organization I recently started called The Vulnerability Challenge, where we inspire people to be themselves by encouraging them to open up and be vulnerable.

Advice for a newbie?
Consistent exercise will get easier and if you stay with it for at least 30 days you will make a habit of it. ☺
